A two-storey red-brick farmhouse with a snow-covered, sagging garage in front, its bays open and full of debris. Footprints in fresh snow lead up to the empty building under a grey winter sky. — 01 / 14shot on Pixel 8 Pro

The tall brick gable end of the farmhouse, upper windows smashed and lower ones boarded, with a collapsed porch and a caved-in side structure. Bare saplings stand in the snowy weeds in front. — 02 / 14shot on Pixel 8 Pro

The rear of the house seen from an ultra-wide low angle: a leaning chimney stack, broken windows, a rotting roofline and a fallen tree draped over a low block addition. Dead brush pokes through the snow in the foreground. — 03 / 14shot on Pixel 8 Pro

A tall, freshly built wooden tower on braced timber legs and steel posts, with a small slit-windowed room under a shingled roof, standing alone in a snowy field. Geese cross the misty sky to the right. — 04 / 14shot on Pixel 8 Pro

A weathered concrete silo rises behind the crumbling fieldstone foundations of a lost barn, half buried in snow and dead brush. The ruins show how much of the farm has already gone. — 05 / 14shot on Pixel 8 Pro

A bare bulb hangs from a rusted chain in front of a wall where layers of fruit-pattern wallpaper and pale green paint peel away in curling sheets. The bulb's shadow falls across the flaking wall beside a board. — 06 / 14shot on Pixel 8 Pro

Close-up of the same frosted bulb in its tarnished brass socket, sharp against a softly blurred wall of peeling paint. Its long dark shadow echoes it on the right. — 07 / 14shot on Pixel 8 Pro

A gutted garage with bare roof joists, stained plywood walls and a heap of black bin bags and broken window frames. Snow drifts in through the open side, showing how exposed the building has become. — 08 / 14shot on Pixel 8 Pro

A dark wood-panelled hallway with the ceiling veneer peeling down in sheets and a rusted orange tank lying on the floor. A mold warning is scratched into the wall on the right. — 09 / 14shot on Pixel 8 Pro

A living room with a stone fireplace where the wooden floor has collapsed into the crawlspace below and the ceiling sags overhead. The rotted boards buckle toward a hole in the middle of the room. — 10 / 14shot on Pixel 8 Pro

A room where paint and wallpaper hang in curls from every wall and the ceiling, with green wainscoting and a boarded glass-panelled door at the far end. An open stairwell sits to the left. — 11 / 14shot on Pixel 8 Pro

A narrow kitchen with green-framed open shelving, tiled backsplash and gutted cabinets under a partly collapsed ceiling lined with floral wallpaper. The corridor beyond leads past the stairs into more rooms. — 12 / 14shot on Pixel 8 Pro

A hall with four doorways, one green door and others white, surrounded by walls shedding layers of paint and paper. The flashlight picks out the debris-strewn floor and a hole cut into the boards. — 13 / 14shot on Pixel 8 Pro

Looking down a narrow cellar stair whose lower steps have gone, leaving a drop into rubble, rocks and broken brick. The cramped white-painted walls make the missing steps feel even more abrupt. — 14 / 14shot on Pixel 8 Pro
