The mouth of a concrete culvert opening onto a shallow creek, with an overhanging branch, a rubble bank behind wire mesh and a mounting bracket on the lip. Murky water fills the floor and runs back into the dark. — 01 / 11shot on OnePlus 15

A round concrete drain mouth with green algae and red spray-painted graffiti on its face, its pipe curving off to the left into darkness. The S-bend in the dark floor channel pulls the eye into the tunnel. — 02 / 11with Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS

A smooth tan concrete pipe telescopes down into a smaller tunnel, with a dark wet trickle running straight down the floor. A low mist hangs in the torchlight over the invert. — 03 / 11with Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS

A silhouetted explorer in a headlamp and shorts stands in a round concrete storm drain, facing a glowing tunnel ahead. To the right, the lining has peeled away in layers and water trickles down the torn wall. — 04 / 11with Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS

Seen through a larger circular opening, a lit concrete pipe runs away into the dark past a chamber with a thin vertical pole and a rusted step rung. Silt banks either side of the dark water channel show where the flow has cut its own path. — 05 / 11with Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS

A torch-lit pipe mouth glows warm against a rough board-formed concrete chamber, with a side inlet and a vertical pole to the right above a bank of dark silt. The water channel runs out of the bright pipe toward the camera. — 06 / 11with Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS

A long corrugated steel culvert, its bolted ribs streaked with rust and mineral drips, narrows into darkness above a smooth concrete channel. A thin line of dark water runs down the centre of the floor. — 07 / 11with Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS

A silhouetted explorer with a glowing headlamp stands in the shallow channel of a ribbed concrete storm drain, the corrugated pipe beyond lit pale blue. The bolted arch segments frame him like a tunnel of ribs. — 08 / 11with Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS

Inside a concrete junction chamber with steel ladder rungs, two pipes split off: in the left one an explorer crouches behind a bright starburst of light, and in the right one a second light glows far down a blue-lit tunnel. Water runs over the sandy floor below them. — 09 / 11with Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS

A large round pipe and a smaller one empty side by side into a bare concrete junction chamber. Their worn, stained mouths feed shallow water channels that join in the floor, showing how the drains meet underground. — 10 / 11with Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS

Looking up a concrete access shaft, steel rungs climb toward a round opening where a light shines far above, beside a diagonal beam and a debris-clogged grate holding leaves and discarded blue gloves. It shows the only way in and out of the drain. — 11 / 11shot on OnePlus 15
